
PQA has evolved a phase-wise strategy to achieve complete automation of all of its business processes in line with its mission to provide better services to its customers and improve internal control with enhancement of efficiency of business processes. Implementations of different IT projects are under progress besides utilizing existing software applications (Revenue, Cargo Throughput, Personnel & Payroll, Stores Inventory, GL and General Provident Fund systems) developed in 2001. Recently a comprehensive network information has also been installed.
Implementation of Oracle Financials (Oracle EBS R12)
At the first phase, PQA has entered into an agreement for deployment of world renowned Oracle’s ERP software to streamline and automate previously different, paper-based or manual financial processes to help increase efficiency with financial information accuracy and improved decision-making by providing a single, centralized data source while reducing financial close processes by several days with a detailed audit trail. Presently, implementations of General Ledger with comprehensive budget control, account receivables, account payable and cash management modules of Oracle E-Business Suite with necessary integration of legacy system are under progress. The required number of Servers with a Tape Library have already been procured and installed.
The procurement and integration of Supply Chain & Fixed Assets modules with Oracle Financials is planned to be deployed in 2nd phase. Whereas, it is planned that HRMS, Payroll etc shall be deployed at phase-3.
Computerization/Digital Archiving of Industrial Management (IM) Records
A complete end-to-end archiving of IM records with development of fully functional Document Management and Land Management Systems are also under progress. Completion of this software will act as a first concrete step towards a complete paperless environment at PQA.
Establishment of Port Qasim Electronic Network (PECNET)
Installation of a robust information and communication technology infrastructure was started in July 2010. It comprised of a fiber-optic network, a state of the art Data Center and a setup from comprehensive electronic communication system with deployment of necessary Server machines and softwares. The project has been successfully completed in time (March, 2011) and is in full swing. The project was awarded to M/s Siemens Pakistan Engineering Co. Ltd.
